Name | James Galbraith (Jim) Donald
Suffix | JP, Farmer at Paerau, Chairman Maniototo County Council
Official Position/s | 1955 - 56 | Chairman, Maniototo County Council |
1957: Councillor J G Donald appointed to the Finance Committee of the Maniototo County Council. With the death of Mr J G Donald, [paraphrased] the Councillors felt the loss of someone who had meant much to them. Mr \'Jimmy\' Donald had represented Serpentine Riding 18 years and ... had represented the County on several larger bodies. He will be remembered by his fellow Councillors because he was such \'fun\'. If things were a bit strained he would come up with some ready wit... he would sum up the situation, chide other members... and give the relaxation required to bring the meeting to order. One of the new bridges at the Styx on 1 Dec 1967 was named after him. [Maniototo Milestone - A Centennial History of the Maniototo County Council, by Janet C ANgus 1977]
