[London 1882]: Dorothy Loveden, wife of Walter Loveden was baled out of imprisonment in Reading Castle for recusancy by Sir Francis Walsingham. NOTE 1: Dorothy Lovedon's sister Elizabeth Warneford was the third wife of Edward Baynard of Lackham, Wiltshire, and the mother of his 10 children. The second wife of Edward Baynard was Eleanor Walsingham, died 1559, sister of Sir Francis Walsingham. As Sir Francis Walsingham has been the brother-in-law of Edward Baynard, perhaps Edward prevailed upon Sir Francis Walsingham for Dorothy Loveden's release?] NOTE 2: When Dorothy was in Reading gaol, the two nuns imprisoned with her had been arrested in 1581 at the home of Dorothy's great nephew and his wife Francis and Jane Loveden of Lyford at the time St Edmund Campion SJ was also arrested in their home at Lyford. Was Dorothy arrested because of her Yate connection? | ||
